Text encoding and Japanese

I must first say that I am really enjoying my life as a new member of my company. Although I'm still learning, I guess I had forgotten how much fun learning was. Everyday is great!!!

But, I must admit, I probably won't be staying here for my lifetime. I'll be looking for a place where I can use English and use Mac as my main machine. I recently noticed that these two factors are linked. And that is where encoding comes in.

There are various types of text encoding, and I have already encountered countless types during the day and believe me, it really makes no sense if you don't know anything about it. I hardly understood what my boss said. Well anyway, not understanding text encoding isn't my point here. The point is that text encoding is needed because of the language of Japanese. That's the problem. There's Shift-JIS, EUC whatever, and so on. Most Mac users must have come across a time where they had to change the text encoding settings in Safari to actually see the page. For goodness sake, how stupid is that!!!

I enjoy Japan and I like Japan, but I must admit I hate the language. Everything is so sophisticated, so complicated, and so damn hard to remember. Speaking in English makes things so much easier and typing much faster. And I guess I really like the language. I don't know why though....

By going to a place where I can use English as my main language, I'm guessing that the company will allow me to choose the OS I work on.

Augh. My English is getting worse and worse. But since I wrote this entry, I'm going to start to get better and better. That's why I started:)
